Be certain that your journal posts meet the criteria in the rubric listed below. This is the rubric I will use to grade your responses, so note that you must include Criterions 1-3 to earn a passing grade on your posts. Yes, punctuation and spelling matter!
Criteria for Blog Participation
1. Respond respectfully and thoughtfully, using only content that is appropriate.
2. Use complete sentences and formal language.
3. Incorporate specific examples from your reading and/or outside research. If you provide personal opinions, support them with documented resources and quoted or paraphrased material from a reputable source.
4. (When assigned) Respond respectfully and thoughtfully to one posting of another student, clarifying what you understand in the student’s post and explaining why you agree or disagree with him/her.
Grading Scale
10 points (100%) Exceptional participation, includes all criteria, demonstrates original and creative thought, and generates complex conclusions about topic.
8 points (80%) Good participation, includes all criteria.
6 points (60%) Partial participation, includes at least two criteria.
0 points Unsatisfactory participation, lacks two criteria.
